you said you'd rather be working with your hands
like Hemmingway and i don't remember anything
about your hands except that they were writer's hands
and the way they looked both bored + frantic when
you were applauding something

describing them as capable seems to be understated—
weathered maybe from mountaintops and broken
bones (when you lifted a rock to the tent in the 'three
a.m. dark night of the soul') thank you F. SCOTT
FITZGERALD and thank you google i found that a.m.
